ACL Surgery

ACL Surgery for Those in Tampa, Brandon, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Lakeland & Surrounding Cities

If you have seriously injured your ACL, you may be a candidate for ACL surgery. Your ACL, or anterior cruciate ligament, is one of four major ligaments that support the function and stability of your knee. Commonly injured during sports and other physical activities, a torn or damaged ACL will oftentimes be painful and cause a significant decrease in mobility.

At Advanced Regenerative Orthopedics, we can determine if an ACL reconstruction is right for you. We will often recommend ACL surgery for those who have a torn ACL or are suffering from persistent knee pain, buckling or stiffness. Benefits to having ACL surgery include:

  • Restored Range of Motion
  • Minimally Invasive
  • Little Scarring
  • Relieves Pain
  • Stabilizes the Knee
  • Helps Prevent Further Meniscal Injury

During your ACL reconstruction, your surgeon will make a small incision to arthroscopically insert a scope into your knee. An arthroscope is essentially a thin tube that contains a light and camera, and it enables the surgical team to thoroughly inspect and operate on the interior tissues of the knee without opening up the entire knee for viewing. Next, we will completely remove your torn ligament and replace it with either tissue from your own body (autograft) or from a deceased donor (allograft).

While this surgery is typically a same day procedure, you will be required to wear a knee brace for 1-4 weeks. Additionally, it will be imperative for you to begin physical therapy within a few days of your ACL reconstruction to regain strength and range of motion in your knee. At Advanced Regenerative Orthopedics, your surgical team will work closely with your local physicians and physical therapist to ensure you are on track for a successful recovery, and if necessary, we may recommend stem cell therapy to help augment the healing process.
